According to industry reports on the 25th, Samsung Electronics has wrapped up pre-bookings for the Galaxy Tab S10 in India. It is expected to launch the new Galaxy Tab S10 in the global market, starting with India, as early as the next day on the 26th.
The Galaxy Tab S10 is a key project that will once again prove the 'AI=Samsung' formula in the tablet PC market after smartphones. This year, Samsung Electronics launched the world's first AI smartphone, the Galaxy S24 series, which attracted great attention with its 'Galaxy AI' features such as Gauss and Bixby. In particular, Apple's recently launched iPhone 16 series, the first AI smartphone, has only half AI features and is considered to have a comparative advantage in AI technology.
Samsung Electronics holds the 2nd largest share of the global tablet PC market behind Apple. However, the company has recently been under increasing pressure from Chinese rivals such as Huawei, which have capitalized on domestic demand. As of the 2nd quarter of this year, Samsung held a 20.1% share of the global tablet market, second only to Apple (35.8%), according to market research firm IDC. However, this is down from 20.6% last year. Meanwhile, No. 4 Huawei increased its share from 5.9% to 6.8% during the same period, and No. 5 Xiaomi increased its share from 3.7% to 5.8%.
What sets the Galaxy Tab S10 apart from the competition is its AI capabilities. As mentioned earlier, Galaxy AI features are supported. So far, the supported Galaxy AI functions include ▲ Interpreter Listening Mode ▲ Writing ▲ Reply Recommendation ▲'Note Assist's 'Voice Recording to Text' and 'PDF Overlay Translation' ▲ Sketch to image ▲ Circle to Search ▲ Portrait Studio ▲ Instant Slow-mo, etc.
While taking advantage of its high-end strategy, the company is paying attention to price competitiveness. Notably, it has switched application processors (APs), which account for more than 40% of production costs for smartphones and tablets, from Qualcomm's Snapdragon to MediaTek's Dimensity 9300+ for the first time.
This is interpreted as a measure to control rising production costs and selling prices amid recent news of price increases for Qualcomm's Snapdragon series. The Dimensity 9300+ is more than 10% cheaper than the Snapdragon 8 3rd-generation chip that was applied to the Galaxy Tab S9. However, the chip is evaluated at a similar level in terms of performance such as CPU.
