“By establishing an independent game development studio and strengthening AI research and development capabilities, we aim to maximize the creativity and initiative of the independent company and lay the foundation for sustainable growth,” said an official from NC Soft.
The three IPs to be created as independent game development studios are TL, LLL, and TACTAN. TL division will be launched as Studio X(tentative name), LLL division will be launched as Studio Y(tentative name), and TACTAN division will be launched as Studio Z(tentative name).
TL has been providing stable services since its global launch on October 1st. As it has proven its competitiveness in the global market, it plans to grow into a global IP through a quick and professional independent studio system. Shooting game LLL and strategy game TACTAN are IPs that have secured global market competitiveness and potential for success, and will focus on strengthening development capabilities and expertise in their respective genres.
Meanwhile, NC Soft will hold an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders on November 28 to confirm the spin-off and establishment of the new company. The split date of each new company will be February 1, 2025.
The reorganization will be carried out along with the establishment of four new corporations. As a strategy of selection and focus to efficiently utilize company resources, certain development projects and support functions will be terminated and reduced. Subsequently, we will implement a workforce redeployment and voluntary retirement program.
Regarding the voluntary retirements, a company representative said, “The exact scale has not yet been determined,” but added, “We will decide on the scale of voluntary retirements and workforce adjustment measures after the process of selecting and reviewing reorganization and discontinued projects is completed.”
“NC Soft plans to create new opportunities through selection and focus, and to improve efficiency by implementing bold changes in all aspects of corporate management.”
